Robin, London between VII and V, and strike/silent lever above XII, the finely matted centre with ringed winding squares and a decorated chamfered date aperture, the movement with twin gut (now wire) fusees - the going side with short verge pendulum mounted on a knife edge, the strike with rack strike on a bell and repeating the quarters on a run of three bells and hammers, the backplate signed 'Fabin Robin, London' within a pattern of foliate scrolls (one pair of engraved scrolls transforming into a dogs/dragons heads) within a wheatear border. The carcass, movement and dial late 17th/early 18th century. The veneers possibly later? 46cms (18ins) high.

The movement is running at the time of cataloguing however the click for winding the barrel is not operating correctly. It is striking but the mechanism is a little slow. The dial has later painted baton indexes, the figures are operating. There is a scuff to the dial at the edge at the 3 o'clock position. There are some slight scuffs to the case but overall the engine-turning is in good condition.
