Mechanism running while cataloguing, musical feature functioning as well, it is also important in order to preserve the wheelworks to have a service in the future. The front enamel panel is in good condition with bright full colours, all the enamel around is also very well preserved with beautiful pattern. Overall this is a very high quality piece from the period, it can easily be considered today as an execution with highest standard both from technical and aesthetic point of view. This is a one of the most exquisite example of a scent bottle with musical mechanism to appear on the auction market.

Lot Description.Jean-Georges Rémond and attributed to Piguet & Capt. A very fine and rare 18K gold and enamel musical snuff box with watch.Box stamped IGRC for Jean-Georges Rémond, circa 1810.Oval box entirely decorated with engine-turned, black and dark blue champlevé enamel geometrical and floral motifs, three hinged covers, semi-circular musical pin barrel movement with a stack of 16 tuned vibrating blades of grasshopper shape to the left, covered by a semi-circular gold plate chased with musical motifs, two white and black enamel sheets of music, the music activated/stopped by a sliding lever in the band, square blank compartment to the centre, gilt-finished semi-circular cylinder movement for the watch to the right, covered by a semi-circular chased gold plate, two small white enamel chapter rings with Breguet numerals, one for the hours, one for the seconds, box stamped IGRC for Jean-Georges Rémond.33 mm. deep & 77 mm. wide.View Lot Notes ›

Mechanism running while cataloguing, all functions appear fully operational while cataloguing, one ruby stone on the regulator has been put back in its original condition without modifying the genuity of this piece. The enamel panel on the front behind the automaton scene has been restored to the left part, the tree near the wheel from the windmill was most certainly restored after the King Farouk sale, one can notice that the original black and white picture shows a chip to this side of the enamel panel. The back enamel panel is in a very well preserved with some very minor scuffs to the surface. In the case back, one can notice the inscpitions as followed 'ivanp sonzogw bg-7-2008'. The present exceptional example is overall in a very good condition.

Lovely enamel scene..The music is working but will require servicing. The watch is not running and is currently fully wound and will also need service. There are small modification to the cylinder escapement, which has been updated. There are restoration and losses to the enamel at 3, 6, 10 and 11 o'clock at the edges and one area of minor restoration to the band. The movement ring is signed Piguet & Capt. The case back has some very small dings.
